2026-06-30

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Tokushima University International Center held the Global Kimono Workshop at the ELCS Room on the 2nd floor of the Glocal Communication Hall, Josanjima Campus.
The event was conducted with the cooperation of Ms. Shizuko Seo of the Seo Shizuko Kimono Academy and her apprentices, and provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the history of kimono and experience wearing traditional garments firsthand.

A total of 20 participants, including international students, Japanese students, and commissioned trainees, joined the workshop. After learning about the characteristics and historical background of kimono from various periods, participants enjoyed a hands-on kimono dressing session under the guidance of the instructors.

Through close observation of kimono designs, colors, and tailoring techniques, the workshop offered a valuable cultural learning experience not only for international students but also for Japanese participants.
It also served as a meaningful opportunity for both international and local community exchange, contributing to deeper cultural understanding and interaction.
