Celebrating the Graduation of International Students

On March 10, 2026, a Celebration Party of the Graduation for International Students was held at Awa Kanko Hotel. This annual event, held every March, celebrates the achievements of international students graduating from Tokushima University while also expressing gratitude to the companies and organizations that have continuously supported them. Additionally, the event serves as an opportunity for networking and cultural exchange.

As part of the celebration, the Tokushima University International Exchange and Collaboration Contribution Award was also presented to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to international efforts at the university. This year, President Kawamura presented the award to one organization and one individual who have, over many years, provided international students with opportunities to experience Japanese culture and engage with the local community.

The Celebration began with a vibrant performance of Awa Ningyo Joruri puppet theater piece “Kotobuki Ninin Sanbaso,” followed by a speech of congratulation and encouragement from President Kawamura. A commemorative gift was then presented to the student representative, and a group photo was taken with the president, university executives, and all graduating international students.

A representative of the graduating students expressed sincere gratitude to their academic advisors, local community members, international exchange organizations, and supporting companies for their generous support and guidance. The event concluded with a joint Awa Odori dance, bringing the event to a warm and lively close amid smiles and applause.

Looking ahead, some graduates will continue their studies at Tokushima University, while others will pursue careers in Japan or return to their home countries.

Regardless of their path, Tokushima University will continue to support their success. The graduates are expected to play an active role as bridges Japan and their home countries and contribute to Tokushima University’s international exchange efforts.
