Japanese Government Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)
In this program, scholarship recipients are selected by an Japanese embassy or consulate general, depending on the country.
Applicants need to take examinations.
(Once accepted as a scholarship recipient, there is no need to take another entrance examination of TU.)
Because the application process differs according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located, please inquire at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country for details.

Japanese Government Scholarship (University Recommendation)
Tokushima University is now accepting applications for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for Academic Year 2026 (University Recommendation – Research Students [General Category]).
This scholarship program aims to promote mutual understanding and international cooperation between Japan and other countries by accepting outstanding international students.
Applicants who wish to apply must consult in advance with their prospective academic supervisor or the relevant faculty/department. Tokushima University conducts internal screening of applicants, including those applying under inter-university exchange agreements, and nominates selected candidates to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Final selection of scholarship recipients is made by MEXT after deliberation by the selection committee.

- Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements stated in the Application Guidelines and Notes cannot be nominated.
- Depending on nationality, pre-entry tuberculosis screening may be required at the time of visa application.
- Please note that the procedures and schedules may vary depending on the graduate school and department. Therefore, for specific preparation steps and required documents, please follow the guidance of your prospective supervisor.
