Tokushima Prefecture International Student Community Exchange Promotion Project: Discover the Tourism and Culture of Tokushima.

2025-11-20

On November 8, 2025, the International Office, Tokushima University, organized a fieldwork titled “Discover the Tourism and Culture of Tokushima”. This event was part of the Tokushima Prefecture International Student Community Exchange Promotion Project, which aims to foster stronger connections between international students, Japanese students, and local communities. Through activities like this, the project helps international students improve their Japanese language skills, deepen their understanding of Japanese culture, and supports their integration into the local community.
In this fieldwork, international students and Japanese students from Tokushima University visited the Aizumi Town History Museum (Ai-no-Yakata), Ryozenji Temple, Gokurakuji Temple, and the Awa Odori Kaikan, where they learned about Tokushima’s tourism and culture in English. Prior to the fieldwork, Japanese students engaged in preparatory study to deepen their understanding of Tokushima’s culture and practiced English before participating.

Through this initiative, international students were able to experience Tokushima’s unique history and culture, while Japanese students gained valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of their own culture through communication with international students. For all participants, the day proved to be meaningful and fulfilling.

The International Office will continue to promote exchanges among international students, Japanese students, and local residents through this project, creating opportunities to foster mutual understanding.
