The Research Center for Higher Education, Division of Global Education (hereinafter, the “International Office”), conducted a Cultural and Corporate Study Tour on January 5–6, 2026. The purpose of this tour is to provide international students with opportunities to broaden their understanding of Japanese culture, history, and technology, as well as to promote cross-cultural exchange among students from diverse countries and regions.
On the first day, participants visited the Kansai Institute for Photon Science, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Tō-ji Temple, and the Otabe Main Factory. At the Kansai Institute for Photon Science, they received explanations about cutting-edge research facilities and technologies, gaining a deeper appreciation for Japan’s advanced scientific capabilities. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, they walked through the famous Senbon Torii (thousand torii gates), and at Tō-ji Temple, they had the rare opportunity to view the Five-storied Pagoda during its special New Year opening, allowing them to experience the beauty of traditional Japanese culture and religious architecture.
On the second day, the participants visited the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kinkaku-ji Temple, and the Kyoto Railway Museum. At the Kyoto Imperial Palace, they learned about the traditions of the Japanese Imperial Household. Many were impressed by the beauty of Kinkaku-ji, and at the Kyoto Railway Museum, participants showed great interest in the exhibits while learning about the development of Japan’s railway technology.
A total of 40 international students joined the tour. In addition to experiencing Japanese culture firsthand, the trip provided a valuable opportunity for students from diverse cultural backgrounds to introduce their own cultures to one another and deepen mutual understanding. The International Office will continue to organize study tours that help international students gain deeper insights into Japanese culture, history, and technology.
