Japanese Government Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation) Should be Applied Before Enrollment

In this type of scholarship, scholarship recipients are recruited and initially screened by an Japanese embassy (or consulate general, depending on the country).
To be eligible as a scholarship recipient, applicants need to take examinations.
(Once accepted as a scholarship recipient, there is no need to take another entrance examination of TU.)

Because the application process differs according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located, please inquire at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country for details.

Japanese Government Scholarship (University Recommendation) Should be Applied Before Enrollment

In this type of scholarship, the University (TU) directly recommends the selected candidates to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Candidates:

Procedures

  1. February – March: Deadline of Application for On-campus Selection
    (Application should be submitted to the Division of International Affairs/Section of Academic Affairs)
  2. March – April: Selection of Nominees
  3. Mid of April: List of Nominees Sent to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    (Enrollment to TU is basically from November)

Japanese Government Scholarship (Domestic Selection) Should be Applied for After Enrollment

In this type of scholarship, the University carefully screens and recommends academically and individually excellent students as government-sponsored scholarship candidates to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

  2. Early November – Early December: Selection of Nominees
