The University of Tokushima has been working for the "Career Development Program for Foreign Students in Japan" since 2008 to capitalize on outstanding capabilities of the UT foreign students for the development of Asia and other countries.
 

What's Career Development Program for Foreign Students in Japan
  • The "Career Development Program for Foreign Students in Japan" is Japan's first foreign student support program that takes into consideration the process up to the employment. The Program gives foreign students the opportunities to learn such as "business Japanese language" and "Japanese corporate culture" which had been obstacles when they worked for Japanese companies. Also, the Program supports the foreign students consistently for future employment by offering internship opportunities and various job-hunting support.
    This program provides educational programs including professional education programs supported by universities and industry as well as business Japanese language education, mainly for foreign students who newly visit Japan with a will to work for Japanese companies, at an industry-academia consortium consisting of academia and companies.


   
Basic Educational Concepts in the Program
  • We provides various training services for foreign students to achieve basic business skills in Japanese companies.

          

    • Foreign students can gain more in-depth understanding in Japanese companies and more chances to work in the companies.
    • Japanese companies can gain more business opportunities by employing foreign students.

 
  From Japanese Language Education to Job Hunting in Japan ...
 
  • (1) Business Japanese Language Education
    • Learning high-level Japanese language necessary as a business person in Japan
    • Learning effective business communication skills, such as the use of honorific expressions and business manners
    • Learning how to make effective presentations and discussions in Japanese through on-site practical training simulating an actual business scene
    • Learning high-level Japanese language necessary for job hunting, such as how to fill out an entry sheet and a personal resume and how to deal with a job interview in Japanese
    (2) Japanese Business Education
    • Listening to the job hunting/work experiences of ex-foreign students
    • Learning through the lectures by corporate personnel staffs on personnel resources that Japanese companies seek for
    • Learning Japanese corporate culture
    • Studying current corporate trend in Japan according to the type of business

    (3) Internships
    • Finding local companies for the internship and matching the needs between a company and a student
    • Developing internship programs with local companies in Tokushima
    • Assisting students for their smooth learning in internship

    (4) Job Hunting Supports
    • Providing company information and advising students for their job hunting activities
    • Conducting a seminar for local companies to enhance the employment of foreign students
